Board of Directors JOHN HORSELL John is one of the two founding Principals of Horsell International. He commenced his insurance career in 1961 with an underwriter in Adelaide. In 1968 John was appointed the Manager of an Australian owned national insurance broker. He remained with this organisation until 1974 when he established Horsell Insurances Pty Ltd. During the next eight (8) years his business grew rapidly with branches being established in all mainland capital cities. The business was sold to Alexander and Alexander in 1981. John continued with Alexander and Alexander assuming various senior Directorial responsibilities during the next five (5) years. In 1987 he became a consultant to Heath Fielding as the Chairman of The Fielding Consultants, a specialist outsourced operation of that broker. In March 1990 John reincarnated Horsell Insurance by forming Horsell International Pty Ltd. John is a widely travelled insurance advisor and broker. He presently consults to major corporations in Australasia, UK, Europe, Asia and USA. JOHN SAUNDERS John is the other founding Principal of Horsell International. He commenced his insurance career in 1976 with Alexander and Alexander where he stayed until 1987. During his eleven (11) years with this firm, John was predominantly involved in account service. At the time of his resignation he was an Account Director responsible for major account servicing, with a large team of brokers reporting to him. In 1987 John joined Willis as Marketing Director. In this role he was responsible for underwriter relationships and the overall control of the placement of accounts into the insurance market. He also maintained his service discipline by accepting responsibility for two major accounts. In 1990 John joined with John Horsell to establish Horsell International. Over the last nine (9) years, John has serviced the firms major accounts and consulted to several major corporations in Australasia, UK, Europe, Asia and USA. John travels regularly to these territories. ROHAN STEWART Rohan commenced his insurance career in 1980 with Steeves Agnew Insurance Brokers before moving to join Lumleys in 1982 as a commercial motor vehicle underwriter. After five years Rohan joined Zurich as motor fleet underwriter responsible for the Victorian portfolio. Over the next seventeen years Rohan held a variety of senior and executive roles within Zurich ranging from state manager roles in Victoria & NSW, Assistant General Manager for the International Division to a member of the general insurance executive responsible for sales, marketing & distribution. Many of Rohan’s roles have focused on building and integrating businesses utilizing a variety of change management techniques whilst continuing to run and grow the business. Rohan joined Horsell International primarily to build and develop our retail broking capability but also works with John Saunders on various initiatives across the Horsell International business drawing on his corporate background. ALAN KNIGHT Alan qualified as a chartered accountant in 1978. Since that time he has pursued a successful career in the finance and advisory sector. In 1992 Alan founded CMF Properties, a company at the forefront of project finance and advisory services in the Australian property market. Alan remains as an Executive Director and Principal at CMF. Alan was invited to join the Board of Hosell International and took up the position of Non-Executive Director in 1992. |
